I have eight more days of vacation for the year. If I do not take them I will lose them but where to go. We have done lots of blue road drives starting from our midwest US location and I cannot think of anything potentially interesting that we have not seen. I would prefer to go some place warmer although the weather here has been remarkably mild.
Eric Hanson cleverly captures our most recent airline experiences. Airline travel starts the vacation off on the wrong foot and ends it with a sour note. How is that for mixed metaphors? Definitely have mixed feelings about it. What to do?

Save science on the radio
I listen to Science Friday on NPR fairly frequently. It is pretty good. I never miss listening to The Naked Scientists from the BBC. They are great! Young, enthusiastic physicians and researchers from Cambridge University present science news, wide ranging coverage on a theme, and an experment you can actually do.
I was saddened to learn that the BBC Eastern Region is planning to drop this programming. I urge you to give it a listen. Past shows are easily accessed through the Science Podcasts link.
